Title:  Improved bioluminescent assay of bacterial contamination for food quality control

Type Details:  Bacterial contamination is one of the most important characteristic of food quality and safety along the whole production way. In the light of the existing problem of finding more rapid and high sensitive methods of monitoring food quality , the main aim of this project is to develop such methods and kits of reagents for analysis of food samples. At present, traditional microbiological method requires 24-72 hours and more. Bioluminescent method, based on ATP measurement in bacterial cells, allows to reduce analysis time in several times. At the same time bioluminescence presented as a very high sensitive and specific method of total or specific bacterial detection. The research, conducted by Department of chemical enzymology, involves improving and development of quality control bioluminescent methods for different food samples (milk, meat, drinks, etc) and preparation of reagent kits for analysis. We are seeking for partners , interested in creating up-to-date rapid methods of quality control and introducing new development in food industry on commercial basis, which is the final goal of this project

Details:  Department of chemical enzymology of Moscow State University is one of the leading research centre in the field of enzyme engineering and biotechnology. It is well known in Russia and abroad for development of bioanalytical methods including bioluminescent microassays . These methods are widely applicable to food, pharmaceutical industry, medicine, ecology, biotechnology etc. At present, some original methods and reagents for bioluminescent assays , supported by Russian patents have been developed . Most of them passed the tests and been recognized by users.
