Title:  Assessment of mutagenic and anti- comutagenic effects of some food-stuffs in experiments and in human study.

Type Details: There is known mutagenic or comutagenic action of some food additives, food supplements, food contaminants. Some of fruits and vegetables contain the antimutagenic chemicals. The mammal cytogenetic assays in the bone marrow cells used in the modern assessment of food components mutagenicity. The aim of proposal project is to improve the scientific expertise of food additives, food supplements, some food-stuffs by using developed in our laboratory polyorgan micronucleus test (PMT) for assessment of mutagenic and prognosis carcinogenic effect of this products. Mutagenicity may be assess in the mammal cells of forestomach, stomach, duodenum, bladder and other. This approach may be used for revealed anty- or comutagenic activities of some food-stuffs. Evaluation of genotoxic effects of food-stuffs in human study may be carried by not invasive micronucleus test in buccal and nasal epithelium cells. Project aimed the development system more correct evaluation of mutagenic and anti-comutagenic action of some food-stuffs with the PMT, receiving the new data about their mutagenic and prognosis of carcinogenic properties.

Research interest:  Assessment of mutagenic and modified mutagenicity effect of environmental agents in mammal experiments and human study.Study of mutagenic, anti- and comutagenic activity of physical and chemical environmental agents aimed at development of methodology of eco-hygienic regulation of environmental agents; development of methodology for revealing and assessment of genotoxic effect of environmental agent induced health disturbances in human population. Methods: polyorgan micronucleus test developed in our laboratory; not invasive micronucleus test in buccal and nasal human epithelium cells; Ames test; analysis of chromosome aberrations. Study of mutagenic, anti- and comutagenic activity of food-stuffs, cosmetics, genetically modified products, biological factors. Study of organ specificity of cytogenetic effects of agents, comparative study in micronucleus and comet assay. Study toxicity, genotoxicity, mutagenicity, embryotoxicity, teratogenicity and carcinogenicity interalations.
